Scale Tipper IPA & The NM IPA Challenge
The NM IPA Challenge
One of our favorite events of the year is rapidly approaching: the New Mexico IPA Challenge. Having evolved into a highly competitive event, this year’s competition will begin on July 5 with it’s first-ever elimination round, where 25 entries will be whittled down to the top 14 IPAs going head-to-head in a state-wide competition. For more information about the NM IPA Challenge, check out the NM Brewers Guild’s events page here.
Each year, NM brewers defy convention, throwing caution (and expense) to the wind, creating unreasonably (and DELICIOUS) hoppy libations that will assault and assuage palates across the state. Though Bosque is the current defending champion, our beloved head brewer, John Bullard, has captured the title two years in a row. This year’s competition will be the most intense yet with the highest amount of entries to date in its 14-year history. That brings us to Scale Tipper IPA.
Our decorated contribution to this year’s IPA challenge is sitting on a dry hop in the fermenters awaiting processing into kegs and…………..BOMBERS! That’s right, roughly 1,000 bombers (22 oz bottles) are being filled this week. Join us on Thursday (July 2) for a Scale Tipper Release Party at our Nob Hill Public House, where we'll have food pairings, specials and a meet-and-greet with our head brewer, John Bullard. The day after the release party, the beer will be available at all 3 taprooms. We couldn’t be more excited about being able to do short runs of specialty beers in bombers for you to enjoy at home or at a party or wherever the wind may take you!
